Book Number Two:

The One True God

1.  There is only one true,1 supreme,2 almighty God,3 Who is light,4 life,5 and love.6 He is a Spirit7 and dwells in light inaccessible.8 His name is Jehovah.9 He is most wise,10 most holy,11 most free,12 most absolute,13 and works in all things14 after the counsel of His own unchangeable15 and most righteous will16 to the praise of His glory, mercy, and grace.17 He is seated on a throne of righteousness and justice, and mercy and truth go before His face.18 He is longsuffering and kind,19 not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and faith.20 He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him by grace through faith21 and is willing to forgive all sin,22 which is the transgression of His most holy and just law.23 He can neither be tempted by sin,24 nor can He tempt any man to sin;25 however, He must execute justice and judgment upon all iniquity26 and will by no means clear those found guilty.27

2.     He is the Alpha and the Omega, without beginning or ending;28 the Lord God Almighty;29 the all-sufficient Creator of all things,30 not deriving any inherent glory from them, but only manifesting His own glory in them.31 In Him we live, move, and have our being.32 He lifts one up and pulls another down, as it pleases Him.33 There is nothing hidden from His sight,34 for He is omniscient,35 omnipotent,36 and omnipresent,37 and all of His ways are immutable.38 His counsel is all-wise.39 Unto Him is due all worship, praise,40 and whatsoever service He requires.41

3.    His plural name is Elohim,42 which manifests the three persons of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.43 This Godhead, as one in unity and essence, is indivisible and called the Holy Trinity.44 The Father has no beginning,45 the Son is eternally begotten of the Father,46 and the Holy Spirit eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son.47 God, as the eternal Lover,48 the beloved Son,49 and the Spirit of love,50 is in covenant union with Himself51 as well as with man,52 and cannot lie.53

4.     He is also known as Adonai, Master,54 before whom every knee shall bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth.55

5.     He is also known as El Elyon, the Most High God,56 who is the sole possessor of heaven and earth and rules over all according to His own purpose.57

6.     He is also known as El-shaddai, the Almighty God,58 who has the power to do anything and everything at any time.59

7.     He is also known as Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts,60 for He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble,61 and always stands ready to correct and deliver His people.62

8.     He is also known as Jehovah-jireh, the Lord will provide,63 for He shall supply all His people’s needs according to His riches in glory.64

9.     He is also known as Jehovah-rophe, the Lord who heals,65 for our diseases did He bear Himself, and our pains He carried, and by His stripes we are healed.66

10.     He is also known as Jehovah-nissi, the Lord my banner,67 for He has sworn to defend His people.68

11.     He is also known as Jehovah-m’kaddesh, the Lord who sanctifies,69 for He who has begun a good work in you will perform it.70

12.     He is also known as Jehovah-shalom, the Lord is peace,71 for His peace passes all understanding.72

13.     He is also known as Jehovah-tsidkenu, the Lord our righteousness,73 for He is the King of righteousness.74

14.     He is also known as Jehovah-rohi, the Lord my shepherd,75 for He tends His people like a flock.76

15.     He is also known as Jehovah-shammah, the Lord is there,77 for who can flee from His presence?78

16.     God, in eternity foreknowing the fall of Lucifer79 and the corruption of certain angelic beings,80 did, by the most wise and holy counsel of His own will, freely and unchangeably predetermine all things,81 yet so as to allow the course of sin without limiting His own will thereby82 until the restitution of all things.83

17.     God, according to His grace,84 mercy,85 and truth,86 determined to prepare for Himself a people after His own image87 with whom He could become one and share Himself.88 Accordingly, order was brought out of chaos in six literal days, and God rested on the seventh.89 He formed man out of the dust of the earth90 and breathed into him spiritual life, thereby setting him apart from the rest of creation,91 yet making him a little lower than the angelic beings.92

18.     God recognized man’s fallibility,93 foreknowing that satan would bring about the fall of mankind and the corruption of all living things.94

19.     God, in His infinite wisdom, predetermined a plan of redemption to save man and his world95 from the same fate as that of the angelic host that rebelled without remedy and was condemned to be tormented forever in the Lake of Fire.96 He foreknew the countless numbers of people97 that would respond to the Spirit of truth,98 repent, and be saved by grace through faith throughout the ages of the earth;99 therefore, He predetermined to suit those whom He foreknew in body, soul, and spirit100 to participate in His plan for mankind as it weaved its thread through the course of the ages,101 calling them His elect.102 Accordingly, He also chose to use the heathen and satan’s system103 so that all things work together for good to those who love God.104

20.     It is therefore the sole purpose of God’s elect to work out their own salvation in fear and trembling105 and to apprehend that for which they also are apprehended of Christ Jesus by faith.106 This is to be achieved through the Holy Spirit,107 by the power of the word of God,108 by prayer,109 praise,110 and perseverance.111
